Traditional Greek Salad

A traditional Greek salad is known to be a tangy blend of pungent vinaigrette dressing, feta cheese and vegetables mixed together and then served on leafy greens. This salad is a great nutritional addition to every meal which can be enjoyed year-round.


Leafy Italian greens
Salt – to taste
Pepper – freshly ground, to taste
Oregano – ½ tsp, ground
Extra-virgin olive oil – 3 tbsp
Red wine vinegar – 1 tbsp
Sun-dried tomatoes in oil – ½ cup, drained
Red onion – 1 piece, small, sliced thin
Kalamata olives – 2/3 cup, chopped
Feta cheese – 8 oz, crumbled
Romato tomatoes – 5-6 pieces
Cucumber – 3 pieces, large


Thoroughly wash the cucumbers and then peel them. Get rid of the seeds using a spoon. Slice cucumbers into bite-size pieces.
Get rid of the seeds of the Roma tomatoes. Chop them coarsely.
Put the chopped Roma tomatoes and cucumbers in a large bowl. Add the sun-dried tomatoes, red onion, Kalamata olives and crumbled Feta cheese.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the oregano, extra-virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar. Add some pepper and salt according to desired taste.
Slowly pour the dressing on the salad and toss lightly. Chill the salad.
You now have a traditional Greek salad. It’s best served on top of leafy Italian greens. Serve on individual plates and enjoy!
